About us

Hi! I'm Cody Lawson, Evo Carnivorous Plant Labs Founder the founder of Evo Carnivorous Plant Labs. I got a longer, more amusing About Us I'm working on, but for now, here's some quick basic info. (Note from future me: Just finished writing, uploaded it, clicked on the link, and of course it's still long! I tried!)

I've been growing carnivorous plants for about 10 years. I've also been a computer nerd my entire life. If you throw a weird problem at me or tell me I get to design/build something that I have no idea about, I tend to get really excited and dive straight in. With carnivorous plants, I got the weird, alien, exotic kick that jump started everything. But because of their rather strict growing conditions, and the myriad of problems we all experience trying to replicate them, that alien kick turned into a project generating, never get bored, powerhouse.

It was then I basically entered into a pact with carnivorous plants. In exchange for giving them a home, letting them be their awesome selves, and telling random people on the internet they should buy my alien friends, they promised to fund my urge to constantly build ridiculously overpowered & overengineered solutions to their everyday problems. I couldn't see any downsides, so I signed on and went all in!

Luckily, a few of those solutions actually turned out to be decently engineered and only slightly overpowered. Jump over to the EvoVerse section of the site to see those. If you want to see the more elaborate designs, along with (eventually) build information, go to the EvoBlog (wow did I really just add Evo to blog, too late now) and look at Lab Construction. I feel a lot of you will like the giant PVC grow room design. It's not cost effective to sell, but definitely cost effect to build!

(Note: The blog stuff I haven't got to upload much. However I have an extensive catalog of photos for every project. I'll try sending out an email, or do a survey on the front page, or maybe Facebook, or something to see what project write ups people  want me to prioritize).

As for how to contact us and where we are located. You can use the chat button on the website. That actually goes straight to me. There is the Contact Form you can find a link too down in the footer. Email is cody@evocpl.com. Phone number... I'm not 100% sure how to handle. It's a personal cell and the internet being what it is... yea I'll see what I can do! Finally there's Facebook. Those messages go directly to me too.

We are based right outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It sucks living here as much as it sounds, but the land/cost of living is cheap. Honestly this is the biggest factor in how long I do this professionally. I miss living in DC or NYC!

Unfortunately, we are closed to the public. I'm an ADHD mess and it's just me (yes I used we just a second ago, does the corporation count as a person? haha) so I don't want to freak people out when they see 5 different projects going on at once! If you are in the Tulsa area and REALLY want to come by. I can probably arrange something. I just need a heads up.

Alright. I'm leaving it at that. Now stop reading about me and go buy our... or my... or EvoCPL's? plants! If not for me, do it for my little alien friends that told me they like you very much!
